Actress Yamini Malhotra, a dentist-turned-performer known for her roles in Punjabi films like Chuttalabbayi and Main Teri Tu Mera, and the popular TV show Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin, recently opened up about her experience with trolling and online negativity. The actress, who rose to national fame after her impactful stint in Bigg Boss 18, spoke candidly about the emotional toll of being constantly judged online.
In a heartfelt conversation, Yamini reflected on how trolling affected her in the beginning: “In the beginning, it used to hurt a lot. But my brother explained to me—these trolls are targeting everyone. It’s not personal. They don’t spare anyone.”
Calling out the toxic culture of online hate, Yamini didn’t mince her words:“Trollers have become a whole new species… a new caste has been born—of trollers.”
She pointed out how even national icons like Virat Kohli are not spared: “When Virat plays well, he’s worshipped. But the moment he has a bad day or India loses, they write the filthiest things—even about his daughter. These trolls leave no one alone.” Yamini also referenced global icons like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, emphasizing the unfairness of public scrutiny: “They don’t spare even someone like Aishwarya ma’am—someone who has made India proud on a global level. If she’s not spared, how can I expect to be?”
She also shared how a past interview by Richa Chadha helped shift her mindset: “I saw an interview where Richa ma’am said, ‘Why should I care what some guy sitting in Punjab thinks about me or Aishwarya Rai?’ I absorbed that line. I realized—I know I’m good. That’s enough.”
With grace and resilience, Yamini has learned to block out the noise and focus on her craft and self-worth.
