When the world’s most iconic Parisian department store makes its way to India, it’s bound to be a spectacle of elegance and luxury—and that’s exactly what unfolded at the pre-launch gala of Galeries Lafayette in Mumbai. The exclusive celebration, hosted by the Aditya Birla Group, was held on November 5, 2025, at the historic Turner Morrison and Voltas House buildings in Kala Ghoda, Fort—the soon-to-be home of Galeries Lafayette Mumbai.
The evening turned into a dazzling convergence of fashion, art, and high society. Among those who graced the red carpet were Ahan Shetty, Aditi Rao Hydari, Tamannaah Bhatia, Arjun Kapoor, and Ananya Birla, each serving their signature style with flair. Aditi Rao Hydari captivated with a cinematic couture ensemble, while Tamannaah Bhatia exuded old-world charm in a vintage-inspired look. Arjun Kapoor and Ahan Shetty kept it sharp in modern tailored suits, while Ananya Birla’s chic contemporary outfit added a fresh, youthful touch to the starry evening.
Often referred to as the “temple of fashion” in Paris, Galeries Lafayette has long stood as a global symbol of opulence and artistry. Its entry into India signifies a major step forward for the country’s luxury retail landscape, blending French sophistication with Indian craftsmanship. The Mumbai flagship will be the first of two planned stores in India, marking the beginning of a new era for fashion connoisseurs.
The pre-launch gala followed an earlier marine-themed celebration in October and featured an intimate gathering of celebrities, business leaders, and cultural influencers. Guests enjoyed a night filled with haute couture showcases, live performances, and fine dining—all set against the stunning architectural backdrop of South Mumbai’s heritage buildings.
As the glittering evening concluded, it became clear that Galeries Lafayette Mumbai isn’t just a store—it’s a statement of how global luxury and Indian artistry can come together to create something timeless.
