The much-awaited teaser of Ramayana Part 1 has finally been unveiled by Namit Malhotra, and it is already stirring conversations across the entertainment world. Sharing the glimpse, Malhotra described Lord Rama as the greatest of all time, emphasizing a life led by duty, sacrifice, and the greater good over personal desire. His words set the tone for what appears to be an ambitious retelling of one of India’s most revered epics, aiming to connect deeply with audiences beyond just spectacle.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the 158-second teaser introduces Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama through visually rich sequences. From a striking mountain silhouette at sunset to grand palace processions and serene forest moments, the teaser blends scale with symbolism. One of the standout visuals includes a lotus-shaped flying vimana, hinting at the film’s heavy reliance on advanced visual effects. The project is being designed for the immersive experience of IMAX screens, further underlining its global ambitions.

The film boasts an ensemble cast that has significantly raised anticipation. Sai Pallavi steps into the role of Sita, while Yash takes on the formidable character of Ravana. Sunny Deol is set to portray Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey will be seen as Lakshmana. Backed by Malhotra’s Prime Focus and DNEG, the film is mounted on a massive scale, with reported budgets ranging from ₹1,600 crore to ₹4,000 crore, making it one of the most expensive Indian cinematic ventures ever attempted.

Adding another layer of global appeal is the music collaboration between Hans Zimmer and A R Rahman. This rare partnership has already intrigued fans, promising a soundtrack that could blend international orchestral depth with Indian musical soul. Music, in a story as emotionally rooted as Ramayana, is expected to play a crucial role in elevating the narrative and connecting with audiences on a deeper level.

However, the teaser has not arrived without its share of criticism. While many viewers have praised the scale and ambition, others feel certain VFX shots appear underwhelming, drawing comparisons to past big-budget mythological attempts. Despite the mixed reactions, the buzz remains undeniably strong. With its release slated for Diwali 2026, Ramayana Part 1 is shaping up to be not just a film, but a cinematic event that could redefine how epic storytelling is approached in Indian cinema.
