Netflix has dropped the first trailer for its upcoming comedy Ladies First, a bold English-language remake of the French hit Je Ne Suis Pas Un Homme Facile. Set to stream globally in May 2026, the film mixes satire, fantasy, and workplace comedy in a sharply flipped version of reality.
The story follows Damien Sachs, played by Sacha Baron Cohen, a powerful and self-assured advertising executive who seems to have everything—wealth, influence, and a carefree lifestyle. His world collapses when he suddenly wakes up in a parallel universe where gender roles are reversed, and women dominate every sphere of power.
In this new reality, Damien finds himself out of place and stripped of the privilege he once took for granted. At the center of this transformed world is Alex Fox, played by Rosamund Pike, a sharp, confident, and highly successful executive who challenges him at every turn. Their rivalry becomes the emotional and comedic backbone of the film, pushing both characters into unexpected territory.
The ensemble cast adds further depth and humor, featuring Charles Dance, Emily Mortimer, Tom Davis, Weruche Opia, Bill Paterson, Richard E. Grant, and Fiona Shaw. Their presence builds a rich satirical world that reflects and exaggerates workplace dynamics and social expectations.
Directed by Thea Sharrock, known for her work on emotionally driven and visually engaging films, Ladies First aims to blend humor with commentary. The screenplay comes from writers Natalie Krinsky, Cinco Paul, and Katie Silberman, adapting the original concept created by Eléonore Pourriat.
At its core, the film uses comedy to explore power, privilege, and perspective shifts. By flipping the traditional “ladies’ man” trope, it forces its protagonist—and the audience—to confront assumptions about gender roles in a light but pointed way.
With its mix of high-concept comedy and a strong ensemble cast, Ladies First is shaping up to be one of Netflix’s more talked-about satirical releases of 2026. If the trailer is any indication, expect sharp dialogue, uncomfortable laughs, and plenty of chaos when the rules of the world are rewritten.
