At the grand trailer launch of KD – The Devil in Mumbai, actor Shilpa Shetty, who plays the character Satyavati, opened up about her role, her inspiration behind it, and reuniting with co-star Sanjay Dutt.
Speaking about her character, Shilpa said, “This film, my role Satyavati, is an ode to my mother — how she used to look, with a buffoon, with polka dot sarees — and I had fun playing this role.” Her nostalgic reflection gave the audience a peek into the personal connection she shares with her character, adding a deeper emotional layer to her performance.
On working with Sanjay Dutt again, Shilpa recalled their camaraderie and the actor's unwavering dedication. “I got a co-actor like Sanjay Dutt in this movie, after many successes that we have given together — and yet again. Like he said, I haven’t changed, he also hasn’t changed, despite being such a humongous star.”
She went on to share a memorable moment from the shoot: “We were shooting for a sequence in the rain, and he was under the weather, he was really ill, he had 102° fever. I could never forget — we were doing some action in the rain, and it was a long shoot, we shot for some seven days. Every day, this man would get wet, he would shoot in his wet outfit the whole day, and he would perform action every day, so dedicatedly. That is why he is Sanjay Dutt. The one and only Sanjay Dutt. And there is no one like him.”
Directed by Prem and produced by Venkat Narayana Konanki and Nisha Venkat Konanki under KVN Productions, KD – The Devil is a pan-India action drama boasting an ensemble cast that includes Dhruva Sarja, Reeshma Nanaiah, V. Ravichandran, Ramesh Aravind, Poonam Jhawer, Nora Fatehi, along with Shilpa Shetty and Sanjay Dutt. The film’s music is composed by Arjun Janya, with cinematography by William David and editing by Sanketh Achar.
With nostalgia, action, and larger-than-life characters, KD – The Devil is poised to deliver a high-energy cinematic experience.
