Hulu has just released the trailer for Nutcrackers, a quirky holiday comedy that promises plenty of laughs and heart. Directed by David Gordon Green, the film stars Ben Stiller in a role unlike anything fans have seen before. Stiller plays Michael, a successful but emotionally distant Chicago real estate developer who is forced to take responsibility for his sister’s chaotic family after a tragic accident. What begins as a simple task of handling legal matters in a small Ohio town quickly spirals into a hilarious and heartwarming adventure.
The story takes a unique turn when Michael discovers that his late sister's four boys, now left without parents, are practically feral. With no other guardian in sight, Michael becomes their reluctant caretaker, a job he is utterly unprepared for. The boys are wild, and their guardian’s lack of parenting experience only makes things more chaotic. As Michael attempts to juggle his real estate responsibilities with his new duties as a makeshift father, he finds himself chasing chickens, improvising "health" lessons, and trying to tame the madness of their rural farm life.
The real twist comes when Michael discovers that his sister trained the boys in ballet, which he sees as his ticket to turning them into adorable, well-behaved children who might be more adoptable. The cast also includes Linda Cardellini as the no-nonsense family services worker, as well as Edi Patterson, Tim Heidecker, Toby Huss, Homer Janson, Ulysses Janson, Arlo Janson, and Atlas Janson in supporting roles.
Written by Leland Douglas, Nutcrackers is a hilarious take on family, responsibility, and the unexpected joy that comes with embracing chaos.
