For years, Amit Sial has been the face of intense, gritty characters in Indian cinema and OTT platforms. But with Raid 2, he found something different—something liberating. Stepping into a well-written role with emotional depth but without the draining weight of high-voltage drama, Sial shares how this project gave him the space to simply enjoy acting again.
Talking about his role in Raid 2, Sial said, “I’ve been doing intense work for years, and I was a bit tired. So this role was important for me. It brought a refreshing change.I didn’t do any extra research. I just enjoyed doing Raid 2. The character was written with so much love, and I gave it that same love while playing it. I didn’t expect this kind of appreciation."
He also shared his preparation process for any role, "“I prefer to stay a little unprepared. I read the script properly once to understand the framework—what the character is doing, how he fits into the story. After that, I like to leave some space open, to keep it alive and in the moment. Unless it’s a biopic or based on a real person, I don’t over-research.”This approach allows him to maintain spontaneity and emotional realism in his performances.
Talking about his experience of working on Raid 1 and Raid 2, he said, “Raid 1 had its own charm—a new story, a new setup. I got to work with Raj Kumar Gupta for the first time, and he’s a fantastic director. We built a great tuning, and that carried over into Raid 2. He wrote a beautiful character for me. It had depth, scope, and I hope I did justice to it.”
Sharing about his future projects, he said, “I have two web series that I hope release this year—they’re almost ready. There is one comedy film. Apart from that, I’m in talks for three to four more films.”
