The outlaw is back—and this time, he's got a cause as sharp as his arrows. MGM+ has unveiled the first official trailer for its bold new take on the Robin Hood legend, premiering November 2, 2025. Set in the harsh world of 12th-century England, the series promises a grounded, emotional, and politically charged retelling of the classic tale.
At the heart of it is Jack Patten as Robert of Locksley, a humble forester’s son turned rebel leader, whose life spirals into chaos after the brutal execution of his father by the Sheriff of Nottingham, played with brooding intensity by Sean Bean. Yes, Bean’s back in medieval boots—and this time, he’s the villain.
The trailer teases an earthy, high-stakes drama—far removed from the green tights and cheeky folklore of earlier versions. Instead, we’re dropped into a world of smoke, steel, and simmering rebellion, as the oppressed Saxon people chafe under Norman rule. Rob’s grief-fueled vengeance slowly transforms into a full-fledged revolution, fought alongside a ragtag band of fellow outlaws deep within Sherwood Forest.
Lauren McQueen stars as Marian, not just a love interest but a conflicted noblewoman torn between her birthright and her heart. The ensemble also includes Lydia Peckham, Steven Waddington, and Connie Nielsen, hinting at layered storylines across both class and battlefield.
Created by John Glenn (SEAL Team, The Bourne Identity) and Jonathan English (Ironclad), the series is clearly leaning into prestige-drama territory: morally gray characters, sweeping cinematography, and a story driven by injustice, identity, and revolution.
From the looks of it, Robin Hood isn’t just a legend retold—it’s a movement reborn. And in an age of dynasties and oppression, rebellion never looked more righteous.
