Saanand Verma, widely adored for his eccentric and iconic portrayal of Anokhelal Saxena in the hit comedy show Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain, recently opened up about a deeply emotional and life-changing moment in his career—one that made him feel like Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan and as though “Sitaare Zameen Par” (stars had landed on Earth).
Speaking to the media during a recent interaction, Verma recalled a surreal fan encounter in Kanpur that left him overwhelmed and grateful beyond words.
Talking about coming to terms with his popularity, Saanand said, “The biggest happiness that I remember, which I experienced as an actor, was Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai, where I played Anokhelal Saxena. For the first time, I felt that I was bringing happiness to a lot of people. I was visiting Kanpur for an event, and to my surprise, there were 3,000 or more people. The entire city seemed to be outside just because I was there. Everyone just wanted a glimpse of me. I felt like I was Amitabh Bachchan. They wanted to touch me, take a picture—it was like I saw Sitaare Zameen Par (stars on the land)”.
From television stardom to the silver screen, Saanand Verma’s journey has indeed been inspiring. Describing the overwhelming love he received, Verma added: “When so many people’s phones are trying to click a picture, and every camera is focused on you, I felt like all the stars from the sky had just landed on Earth. That was the first time I got the feeling that God had made me popular. I’m an emotional man, and I just couldn’t get over the feeling for a week. I cried and cried. I thought—God, I was no one, struggling to put food on the plate. And now I am someone. It was a surreal rise. And after that, God has been kind to me. I haven’t seen a single dip in my journey. I’m just climbing higher and higher. I have done exceptionally well.”
Beyond his success on Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain, he has appeared in critically acclaimed films such as Mardaani, Raid, Mission Raniganj, and the upcoming Vijay 69.
With his signature wit, raw honesty, and a deep gratitude for his fans, Verma continues to win hearts—and remind us all that dreams, even the wildest ones, do come true.
