The countdown has officially begun for Coolie, one of the most eagerly awaited films of 2025. The makers, Sun Pictures, have announced that the official trailer for the high-octane Tamil action thriller will be released on Saturday, August 2, with excitement reaching a fever pitch following the unveiling of a new poster featuring the film’s powerhouse ensemble cast.
The newly released poster showcases Rajinikanth, Aamir Khan, Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Sathyaraj in intense, stylized avatars, hinting at the film’s gritty, large-scale narrative. Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, marks the first-ever collaboration between Rajinikanth and Aamir Khan in nearly three decades, the two having last shared screen space in the 1995 film Aatank Hi Aatank.
Sun Pictures is also hosting a grand pre-release event on the same day as the trailer launch at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai, promising a visual spectacle and an address from the superstar himself. “Are you ready for the Super Speech? #CoolieUnleashed,” the studio teased in a social media post.
Coolie features Aamir Khan in a bold, rugged role named Dahaa, with his look having already gone viral earlier this month. The film blends high-stakes action with raw emotion and political undertones, a signature of director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s storytelling style. With a sprawling cast and intense character dynamics, Coolie is shaping up to be a pan-India cinematic event.
The soundtrack, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, has already made waves with chartbusters like “Monica,” “Chikitu,” and the explosive track “PowerHouse.” With its global release scheduled for August 14, Coolie will clash directly with the much-hyped Hrithik Roshan–Jr NTR starrer War 2, setting the stage for a massive box office faceoff this Independence Day weekend.
