Apple TV+ has officially released the trailer for the highly anticipated second season of its breakout comedy series Platonic. Created by Nick Stoller and Francesca Delbanco, the show once again stars Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne as two best friends navigating the hilarity, heartbreak, and chaos of mid-life—all while strictly staying in the “friend zone.” Season 2 is slated to premiere on August 6, 2025, and promises even more emotional messiness, awkward laughs, and unpredictable turns.
Picking up after the events of Season 1, Platonic Season 2 dives into new territory as the duo wrestles with a fresh batch of life challenges—ranging from career burnouts and shaky romances to weddings gone wrong and partners in crisis. Despite their wildly different personalities, Will (Rogen) and Sylvia (Byrne) remain each other's constants in an increasingly uncertain world. But as the trailer cheekily warns, “Sometimes your rock can also break things,” teasing some emotional fissures between the two.
The cast expands this season with returning favorites like Luke Macfarlane, Carla Gallo, Kyle Mooney, and Beck Bennett, alongside newcomers Aidy Bryant and Milo Manheim, adding even more comedic flair to the mix. Behind the camera, Noah Findling joins as co-writer and co-director, lending a fresh perspective to the series' already sharp, emotionally grounded humor.
Season 1 of Platonic was praised for its unique take on male-female friendship, sidestepping romance in favor of something messier—and often more honest. Season 2 looks to double down on that charm, balancing Rogen’s chaotic energy with Byrne’s whip-smart wit as the characters face adulthood’s less glamorous truths. With its August release just around the corner, Platonic is poised to be another binge-worthy summer hit for Apple TV+.
