Actress Isha Koppikar, known for her impactful roles in Bollywood, is keeping fans intrigued with a possible cameo appearance in the much-awaited Don 3—though she hasn't officially confirmed it. Alongside that, she is also making headlines with her upcoming short film Rocketship, where she takes on the role of a mother while also supporting fresh talent behind the scenes.
In a candid conversation, Isha reflected on the evolution of her journey in the industry, the legacy of the Don franchise, and her commitment to nurturing the next generation of filmmakers.
While remaining tight-lipped about whether she’ll be seen in Don 3, Isha acknowledged the buzz and shared her admiration for the franchise: “Maybe you’ll catch a glimpse of me in Don 3… let’s see,” she teased.
Speaking about the iconic legacy of the Don character, she added:“After Amit Ji (Amitabh Bachchan), when Shah Rukh Khan played Don, it came with huge responsibility—and he pulled it off so well. Now Ranveer Singh is stepping into that role, and it’s a very big responsibility. To wear that hat… it’s not easy. Amit Ji left a strong impression, Shah Rukh carried it forward, and now it’s up to Ranveer. I wish him all the best.”
In addition to teasing her possible return to the big screen, Isha is also turning her attention toward meaningful cinema with the upcoming short film Rocketship—a project she calls close to her heart.
“This short film was made for the diploma students at Whistling Woods International, Subhash Ghai’s film school,” she shared. “When I started out in the industry, I didn’t have a godfather. No one came forward and said, ‘I’ll give you your first film.’ I come from a family of doctors. Whatever I’ve learned, it’s through experience.”
“Now I feel it’s my responsibility to help those starting out, using whatever knowledge I’ve gained. So when the students approached me and said, ‘We want to make this film,’ I said yes immediately.”
In the film, Isha plays the role of a mother. The project was completed in just two days and features an entirely new team—budding talent both in front of and behind the camera.
“Everyone involved was new, and the energy was fresh. It was a two-day shoot and honestly, I had a great time.”
Isha’s career, marked by powerful performances in films like Company, Kaante, and Ek Vivaah... Aisa Bhi, continues to evolve as she balances acting with mentorship and meaningful collaborations.
