The buzz around Ek Din just got louder as Aamir Khan hosted a special musical and storytelling event in Mumbai for the much-anticipated film, which he is backing as a producer. The evening turned into a warm celebration of cinema, creativity, and collaboration, bringing together the film’s cast and crew including Sai Pallavi, Junaid Khan, composer Ram Sampath, and debut director Sunil Pandey.

One of the highlights of the event was Aamir Khan’s heartfelt appreciation for Sunil Pandey, who is making his directorial debut with the film. Speaking candidly, Aamir shared a long-standing association with the filmmaker and didn’t hold back in praising his journey. He said, “I want to say something special about Sunil, who directed the film; this marks his directorial debut. Sunil has worked with such immense passion and love. He has been incredibly hardworking and persevering—and he even managed to put up with me! Actually, Sunil and I go way back; we have worked together extensively. He served as the First Assistant Director (AD) on Taare Zameen Par—he was my First AD on that project—as well as on Delhi Belly and Rang De Basanti. He also worked with me in the capacity of my manager.”

The actor-producer added a humorous twist to his speech, revealing a quirky pattern about his former managers. “Advait Chandan was also my manager. And then Sunil became my manager—and somehow, my managers here always end up becoming filmmakers. Bobby, any such plans? Well, you know, Sunil has really done a wonderful job. And Sunil, thank you so much for making such a wonderful film—and for bringing to the screen... you know, for bringing to the screen what was originally just on paper.” The lighthearted anecdote brought smiles across the room while underlining Aamir’s faith in his team.

Directed by Sunil Pandey, Ek Din is produced by Aamir Khan, Mansoor Khan, and Aparna Purohit under Aamir Khan Productions. The film also marks the Hindi film debut of Sai Pallavi, paired opposite Junaid Khan, making it a fresh and exciting on-screen pairing to watch out for.

The story of Ek Din is adapted from the 2016 Thai film One Day and follows a tender, emotional premise. It revolves around Rohan, a man quietly in love with his colleague Meera, who lacks the courage to confess his feelings. During a company trip, fate intervenes—granting him just one day where his wish to be with her comes true. What unfolds is a bittersweet journey of love, timing, and second chances.

Originally slated for a November 2025 release, Ek Din will now hit theatres on May 1, 2026. With its heartfelt narrative, soulful music, and strong backing from Aamir Khan, the film is shaping up to be an emotional cinematic experience that could strike a chord with audiences.
