Fans of the horror-comedy Kapkapiii were left scratching their heads—and biting their nails—when the film ended on a cliffhanger that raised more questions than it answered. But now, lead star Tusshar Kapoor has cleared the air: it was all part of the plan.
Speaking with the media, Tusshar acknowledged the unfinished feel of the film’s climax, revealing it was a deliberate choice. “Yes, that is true, and it was intentional,” he said. “The original makers wanted the audience to have those questions—that way, they would wait for the sequel, and all the questions will be answered. Because a lot of characters' history hasn’t been completed.” Bold move? Definitely. Risky? Also yes. But Tusshar believes the unique structure adds to the film’s charm.
Directed by Sangeeth Sivan and produced by Jayesh Patel, Kapkapiii is a Hindi adaptation of the hit 2023 Malayalam film Romancham. Alongside Tusshar, the film stars Shreyas Talpade, Siddhi Idnani, and a talented ensemble including Jay Thakkar, Sonia Rathee, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, and Abhishek Kumar. The screenplay has been reimagined for Hindi audiences by Kumar Priyadarshi and Saurabh Anand, and while it delivers on laughs and jump-scares, it intentionally leaves several narrative threads dangling.
“It’s an unusual kind of screenplay,” Tusshar added. “A lot of the film entertains, but the mysteries are still incomplete. So hopefully, if the film does very well on OTT, we might do a sequel.” So there you have it—if you’re hoping for answers, spine-chilling thrills, and maybe even more laughter-fueled hauntings, start streaming. The fate of Kapkapiii 2 might just depend on your binge.
