Universal Pictures and Peacock have unveiled the official trailer for Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, the highly anticipated sequel to the beloved Bridget Jones franchise. Directed by Michael Morris, the film brings Renée Zellweger back to the iconic role of Bridget Jones, but this time, Bridget is navigating a whole new chapter of her life. Widowed after the tragic loss of her husband Mark (Colin Firth), who was killed on a humanitarian mission, Bridget is now a single mother to two young children—9-year-old Billy and 4-year-old Mabel. The emotional depth of the story, combined with the trademark humor of the franchise, promises a compelling and heartwarming ride for fans.

As Bridget juggles the ups and downs of motherhood, work, and her quest for love, her world is full of familiar faces and new challenges. Despite her best efforts to move on, Bridget finds herself in a state of emotional limbo. Her loyal friends, including Shazzer, Jude, and Tom, as well as her work colleague Miranda, urge her to embrace a new chapter, even pushing her to try dating apps. Soon, Bridget finds herself pursued by a dreamy, younger man played by Leo Woodall. Amid the chaos of trying to balance romance and motherhood, Bridget is also dealing with the judgmental "perfect mums" at school and her son’s emotional struggles with the loss of his father. A series of awkward interactions with Billy’s science teacher, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, also adds to the comedic tension.

The film reunites many familiar faces from the previous installments, including Hugh Grant as Bridget’s former lover, Daniel Cleaver, and Oscar-winner Jim Broadbent and Gemma Jones as Bridget’s parents. New to the cast is Isla Fisher, who plays Rebecca, Bridget’s quirky and supportive neighbor. Written by Helen Fielding, the author of the Bridget Jones novels, the screenplay also includes contributions from Abi Morgan and Dan Mazer.

With its signature blend of humor, heart, and Bridget’s lovable misadventures, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy promises to be a charming addition to the franchise. Fans can look forward to the next chapter in Bridget's life when the film releases on February 13, 2025—just in time for Valentine’s Day!
