The first look of Ramayana, Indian cinema’s most awaited mythological epic, was unveiled on July 3 to roaring enthusiasm across the globe. With synchronized teaser screenings across nine major Indian cities and a monumental display at New York’s Times Square, the scale of the launch reflected the ambition behind this cinematic retelling of one of the greatest stories ever told.
At the center of this dream project is acclaimed director Nitesh Tiwari, known for powerful storytelling in films like Dangal and Chhichhore. Speaking at the launch event, Tiwari shared his personal connection to the project, saying:“I am also an avid movie watcher. For me, the most important aspect is emotions and pride. So for me, pride for the great cultural heritage that we have in our country—if we can evoke that and show it to the whole world, that this is what we stand for—to me, it would be an achievement. And that is something I am hoping we would be able to achieve.”
His words highlight the emotional and cultural heart of Ramayana—not just a visual spectacle, but a film built to inspire a sense of pride and unity among Indians and to share that feeling with global audiences.
