Rialto Distribution has dropped the first official trailer for The Deb, a musical comedy that marks Australian actress Rebel Wilson’s directorial debut. The trailer teases a vibrant mix of music, laughs, and heartfelt self-discovery in the world of small-town high school drama.

The film stars Natalie Abbott as Taylah Simpkins, a high school outcast who sees the upcoming Debutante Ball — “the Deb” — as her one shot to reinvent herself and rise to popularity. Things get complicated when her cynical city cousin Maeve (played by Charlotte MacInnes) arrives as punishment, immediately attempting to disrupt the small town’s social order. Together, the cousins navigate rivalry, romance, and self-acceptance in a journey that’s equal parts funny and heartfelt.

The cast also includes Stevie Jean, Shane Jacobson, Tara Morice, Julian McMahon, Hal Cumpston, and Rebel Wilson herself, promising a dynamic mix of comedic talent. The screenplay is written by Hannah Reilly, from a story by Reilly and Meg Washington.

With its mix of small-town charm, catchy musical numbers, and Rebel Wilson’s signature comedic flair, The Deb looks set to be a feel-good crowd-pleaser. The trailer highlights the clash between ambition, identity, and the hilarity that ensues when these worlds collide.

The Deb hits theaters on January 15th, 2026, inviting audiences to witness the chaos, charm, and musical mayhem of the ultimate Debutante Ball.
