Ace filmmaker S S Rajamouli has set the internet ablaze once again! On Friday, he revealed the first look of actor Prithviraj Sukumaran from his mega project Globe Trotter, headlined by Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu. The striking poster showcases Prithviraj as “Kumbha,” a sinister and power-packed antagonist that Rajamouli calls “ruthless, powerful, and one of the most creatively satisfying characters” he has ever brought to life.
Rajamouli shared that after shooting the first scene with Prithviraj, he was so mesmerized that he told the actor he was among the finest he had worked with. Prithviraj, seen in the poster as a wheelchair-bound character with robotic limbs, responded warmly on X, calling the film “a mad mad ride” and expressing his excitement to collaborate with the visionary director.
Not to be outdone, Mahesh Babu also joined the fun, posting, “Stood on the other side… time to meet you head-on, Kumbha,” teasing a fiery face-off between his protagonist and Prithviraj’s formidable villain. Priyanka Chopra, who plays a key role in the film, chimed in too, with the caption, “We take off with this one… Meet KUMBHA!!” Clearly, the film’s team is in full throttle promotion mode, and the buzz couldn’t be higher.
Rajamouli first teased Globe Trotter back in August, promising fans that November 2025 would mark the start of major reveals. As promised, details are finally emerging. The film—rumored to blend adventure, history, and mythology—has already made headlines for Mahesh Babu performing all his own stunts without a body double. Interestingly, 95 percent of the African segments were shot in the breathtaking landscapes of Kenya, a fact proudly shared by Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia W. Mudavadi.
With a fresh cinematographer onboard (departing from Rajamouli’s long-term collaborator K. K. Senthil Kumar), the project signals a visual shift in tone and texture. Expansive portions filmed in Odisha add to the film’s global backdrop. Expected to release in 2027, Globe Trotter is shaping up to be an epic adventure—the kind of cinematic voyage only Rajamouli can craft. The journey has officially begun, and it looks thrilling.
