Prajakta Koli, along with the full ensemble cast of Single Papa—including Kunal Kemmu, Neha Dhupia, Manoj Pahwa, Ayesha Raza, Dayanand Shetty, Ishaa Talwar, Murali Mali, and more—lit up the trailer launch event for the much-awaited Netflix series. Speaking about her role as Namrata, Gaurav’s grounded and sensible sister, Prajakta addressed the idea that mainstream actresses rarely take on sister roles in major shows.
She explained, “To tell you honestly I didn’t reach there. I got to know who and all I will be working with and it got me super excited. Having said that, when you get to watching the show you will realize, all the chaos which is happening in the family, they are so interdependent. Something is happening in someone’s life is having effects in someone else’s life. What is happening in Gigi’s life is affecting Namrata’s life, and what is happening in Namrata’s life is affecting my father and mother’s life. And on top of everything, Neha enters everyone’s life and then there is even more chaos.”
She further added, “So I don’t think it’s really in a place where someone is leading and someone is behind. If you see the story holistically, it is actually a wholesome story of a family. So, I didn’t feel anything of the sorts. I think it is a beautiful story and it’s a lovely family and Netflix is my home, it has given me so much, so there was no doubt.”
Single Papa features Kunal Kemmu as Gaurav Gehlot (GG), a lovable yet emotionally immature man who decides to adopt a baby after his divorce—much to the shock, panic, and eventual unity of his extended family. Prajakta’s Namrata serves as the voice of reason amid the chaos, grounding the story with warmth and humor.
Created by Neeraj Udhwani and Ishita Moitra, the series revolves around family ties, unexpected responsibility, and the beautiful messiness of modern Indian households. With an ensemble that includes Prajakta Koli, Neha Dhupia, and Manoj Pahwa, the show promises comedy, heart, and relatable family drama.
Single Papa is slated for release on 12th December.
