Paramount Plus has just released the official trailer for its upcoming holiday comedy Dear Santa, and if you thought your Christmas traditions couldn't get any more bizarre, think again. Directed by Bobby Farrelly, the film promises a devilishly fun twist on the classic holiday tale, starring none other than Jack Black as Satan — or, rather, a mistaken version of Santa Claus. When a young boy sends his wish list to "Santa" with one minor, yet catastrophic, spelling error, the holiday season is turned upside down in the most hilarious way.
In Dear Santa, a child’s innocent wish list accidentally reaches the wrong recipient due to a simple mix-up in the letter’s address. Instead of the jolly Santa Claus, the boy’s wish is delivered to Satan, who shows up in town to wreak havoc in a far less jolly form. Played by Jack Black, the character of Satan is a far cry from the traditional Christmas icon we know and love — but his comedic take on the role promises to deliver plenty of laughs. With his signature humor and larger-than-life personality, Black’s devilish antics are sure to keep audiences entertained throughout the film.
The film’s ensemble cast includes some familiar faces, each bringing their own brand of comedy to the table. Alongside Jack Black, Dear Santa stars Keegan-Michael Key, Brianne Howey, Hayes MacArthur, and a surprise cameo from rapper Post Malone. Robert Timothy Smith plays the young boy whose innocent mistake causes all the chaos, while P.J. Byrne, Jaden Carson Baker, and Kai Cech round out the cast. With this star-studded lineup, the film promises a mix of slapstick humor and witty dialogue that will appeal to a wide audience.
The screenplay for Dear Santa was penned by comedy writers Ricky Blitt and Peter Farrelly, the duo behind some of the most iconic comedies of the past few decades, including Dumb and Dumber. Their comedic sensibility, known for its absurdity and heart, is perfectly suited for this holiday romp. From the outrageous premise to the eccentric characters, Dear Santa blends Farrelly's trademark humor with a festive twist, making it the perfect holiday film for anyone looking for something a little different this season.
Scheduled for release on November 25, 2024!
