The second day of the WAVES 2025 Summit in Mumbai unfolded as a vibrant celebration of India’s media and entertainment industry, drawing major attention to the country’s creative potential on the global stage. Hosted at the Jio World Convention Centre and organized by the Government of India, the summit attracted over 100,000 attendees, including 1,100 international delegates. As shared by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), the day was “brimming with energy and insights,” featuring a star-studded lineup that added glamour and gravitas to the event.
Renowned actors and filmmakers such as Mithun Chakraborty, Vikrant Massey, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Shankar Mahadevan and Shekhar Kapur participated in engaging panel discussions and masterclasses. These sessions covered a broad range of themes, from the use of artificial intelligence in cinema to the growing global interest in regional Indian storytelling. The discussions provided not just behind-the-scenes perspectives but also deep insights into how India is shaping new narratives in the entertainment world.
A major highlight of the summit was its focus on innovation through initiatives like the “Create in India Challenge,” which saw participation from over 85,000 creators and innovators. Launched to nurture local talent and promote collaborative content creation, the challenge is central to India’s strategy of becoming a global content hub. These efforts were reinforced by Maharashtra’s announcement of a 500-acre Film City project, signaling a robust commitment to infrastructure development in the creative economy.
Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the summit emphasized India’s vision of blending tradition with technology to lead the next era of media and entertainment. With its mix of policy support, star power, and international collaboration, WAVES 2025 is not just a showcase of talent but a statement of intent—placing India firmly on the global entertainment map.
