Saban Films has dropped the official trailer for In Cold Light, and it’s immediately clear that filmmaker Maxime Giroux isn’t playing around. Set in a city throbbing with neon grit and rodeo-like mayhem, the film follows Ava—played by Maika Monroe—who’s barely out of prison before the universe decides she hasn’t suffered enough. Determined to reclaim her drug empire, she sets her comeback plan in motion… right before witnessing her brother’s brutal murder. Timing, as they say, is everything.
Suddenly framed, hunted, and tossed into an underworld where betrayal grows faster than mold in a damp basement, Ava finds herself running from corrupt cops, a ruthless crime boss played with icy precision by Helen Hunt, and the ghosts of bad decisions. But the trailer’s biggest left hook? Ava being forced to face her estranged father, portrayed by Troy Kotsur—bringing emotional heft to a story already heavy with bloodshed and paranoia.
The city around her feels like a fever dream—half-nightmare, half-carnival—where survival depends on instinct, improvisation, and trusting absolutely no one. As enemies multiply and the walls tighten, Ava’s rage becomes her fuel, pushing her from prey to predator in a revenge spiral that promises more twists than a rusted back-alley fire escape.
Written by Patrick Whistler and starring Monroe, Kotsur, Hunt, and Allan Hawco, In Cold Light hits theaters on January 23rd, 2026. Judging by the trailer, the film is gearing up to be a brutal, stylish, and adrenaline-soaked fight for redemption—one where even the shadows feel dangerous.
