College football has seen a recent upheaval, one that Alabama coach Nick Saban believes will result in the permanent formation of su Delaware State Hornets shirt perconferences.

Saban, speaking last week o College Cold Weather Shirts n former Crimson Tide quarterback Greg McElroy's podcast "Always College Football," lamented what appeared to be an inevitability in college sports — in particular, how it will strip the tradition that made football one of America's favorite pastimes.

The latest waves across college football originated from Los Angeles, when USC and UCLA — among the earliest founding members of the Pac-8, now called the Pac-12 — announced moves to the Big Ten. The year prior, Texas and Oklahoma announced they were leaving their longtime homes in the Bi Bryant Bulldogs clothes g 12 to join the SEC.

That has led the remaining three Power 5 conferences — the Pac-12, Big 12 and ACC — to consider their options in order to become the third superconference behind the Big Ten and SEC. By necessity, that will mean poaching lucrative programs from other conferences to bolster their own.

"But I think we're going to deal with it in a greater capacity than ever before because I think megaconferences are probably here to stay," Saban said. "Market share, there's a lot of that involved in why we're doing what we're doing."

Indeed, many of the biggest moves along college football's fault lines have been predicated on earning more money from pending TV deals. The Big Ten, for example, is curren WVU vs. Pitt Rivalry shirt tly in talks for a media rights deal that would pay out $1 billion per year — and that was before USC and UCLA joined.

(It's also the reason Texas and Oklahoma haven't already left the Big 12, as the conference's grant of rights expires ahead of the 2025 season. It's too costly to f Augustana Vikings Jerseys ight a potentially losing batt College Cold Weather shirt le and lose profit).

BENDER: Greed is good: Super conference era is coming, and it is going to be good for college football

Saban also spoke out on how burgeoning NIL deals have affected the college landscape insofar parity is concerned. While Saban, 70, agrees that players should be paid, he feels that any NIL deal should be correlative to their on-field product.

Instead, Saban said, he feels as if NIL deals are being used as a recruiting tactic, essentially paying players out of high school in an unregulated form of free agency. He shared those sentiments in a May appearance to promote the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, Ala., accusing Texas A&M of buying its top-rated recruiting class.

"We were second in recruiting last year, A&M was first," Saban said at the time. "A&M bought every player on their team. Made a deal for name, image and likeness. We didn’t buy one player. But I don’t know if we’re goi Texas vs. Oklahoma Rivalry shirt ng to be able to sustain that in the future because more and more people are doing it."

Saban said the lack of regulation will make Campbellsville Tigers clothes it harder for teams to compete on even playing fields.

"We don't have any guardrails on what we're doing right now," Saban told McElroy. "We have no restrictions on who can do what. Some people are gonna be capable of doing certain things; other people aren't going to be capable. But the bottom line is we'll lose competitive balance.

"Which, everything we've always done in college football is to maintain competitive balance. Same scholarship, everyone had to play by the same rules whether it was recruiting or whatever. Right now that's not how it is."
