This. Is. March. (As Kentucky found out the hard way on Thursday.)
The 2-seed Wildcats were the victims of some patented March Madness, falling 85-79 in overtime to 15-seed Saint Peter's in the first round of the 2022 NCAA Tournament. It is just the 10th 15-2 upset in the history of the tournament since it expanded to 64 teams in 1985.

That the Peacocks could even take the game to overtime is a testament to how unpredictable this tournament is. It seemed as if John Calipari's team would take control over the MAAC school, as Oscar Anderson Trojans Jerseys Tshiebwe (30 points, 16 rebounds) scored two quick layups to give the Wildcats a 75-71 lead. But Saint Peter's responded with a furious 10-3 scoring run to take the game and make history in the process. Daryl Banks III (27 points) and Doug Edert (20 points) led the way in the upset.
Make no mistake: This was a historic win for Saint Peter's, which enjoyed a win over one of college basketball's bluest of blue-blood programs in Kentucky. The win was also groundbreaking for the program itself, which prior to the 2022 event had a scant NCAA Tournament history (to put it mildly).
