Everyone loves a good Cinderella story. Every year, teams sneak into the NCAA Tournament and then wreak havoc on the field.

Of particular note? The true bracket busters who stun not one, but two heavy favorites en route to the second weekend. Though the names on the NCAA Crewneck SweatJerseys jerseys may change, glass slippers don't discriminate when it comes to Cinderella and March Madness.

The Sporting News looks at the 10 lowest-seeded teams to make the Sweet 16 and what it took for them to accomplish the feat.

2022 Saint Peter's (15)

The Peacocks, hailing from Jersey City, N.J., started their strut to the Sweet 16 with an 85-79 overtime takedown of No. 2 Kentucky in the first round. Two days later, they handled No. 7 Murray State 70-60 to become the third 15-seed in NCAA Tournament history to advance to the second weekend.

2021 Oral Roberts (15)

Oral Roberts scored two unexpected victories in the 2021 NCAA Tournament to earn its bid to the Sweet 16. The first was an incredible 75-72 overtime victory over 2-seed Ohio State, the first big upset of the tournament. The second was an equally hard-fought 81-78 win over 7-seed Florida, which led by 11 with less than 10 minutes remaining in regulation.

2013 Florida Gulf Coast (15)

The Eagles were the darlings of the 2013 tournament after upsetting No. 2 Georgetown in the opening round and getting by San Diego State to advance to the Sweet 16. "Dunk City's" win over Georgetown marked just the seventh time that a 15-seed upset a 2-seed. The clock struck midnight on this Cinderellas story at the hands of Florida, who was ranked No. 1 in the nation by Ken Pomeroy at the time. Florida Gulf Coast finished 26-11, the best record in program history.

1997 Chattanooga (14)

The Mocs snuck by 3-seed Georgia with a 73-70 win in the first round before breezing by 6-seed Illinois with a 75-63 win in the second round. Chattanooga's run came to an end against 10-seed Providence, who upset 2-seed Duke in the previous round.

1986 Cleveland State (14)

The Vikings had a resounding debut in the NCAA tournament, becoming the first 14 seed to ever make the Sweet 16. The team defeated 3-seed Indiana in the first round and 6-seed St. Joseph's in the second round before losing to Navy by one point in the Sweet 16. The Vikings would not return to the tournament until 2009.

2013 La Salle (13)

It was far from an easy road to the Sweet 16 for the Explorers, who made the tournament for the first time in 21 years. The team defeated Boise State in a play-in game, upset 4-seed Kansas State in the next round and defeated Mississippi in the Round of 32. La Salle then faced 9-seed Wichita State in the Sweet 16 and lost 72-58. It is the furthest the program has ever advanced in the tournament. Of the six times the Explorers have made the Big Dance, they have been a 13-seed three times.

2012 Ohio (13)

The Bobcats upset Belmont Bruins clothes 4-seed Michigan 65-60 in the first round and defeated 12-seed South Florida two days later. Ohio faced 1-seed North Carolina in the Sweet 16 and lost 73-65. It was the farthest the team had advanced in the tournament since making the Elite 8 in 1964. The team has not returned to the tournament since.

2006 Bradley (13)

The Braves made the tournament for the first time in a decade, and used 11 three-poi Cal State Long Beach The Beach Jerseys nters to upset 4-seed Kansas in the first round. They defeated 5-seed Pittsburgh in the next round before falling to 1-seed Memphis in the Sweet 16. The team's 22-11 record was the best record since 1996, the last time they had made the tournament. The Braves have not returned to the tournament since 2006 and have had only four winning seasons since then.

1999 Oklahoma (13)

The Sooners upset 4-seed Arizona with a 61-60 win in the first round and defeated 5-seed Charlotte 85-72 in the next round. The team's run would come to an end in the Sweet 16 against 1-seed Michigan State. The run was the deepest for the Sooners since 1989, and would be the furthest the team would go until reaching the Final Four in 2002.

1998 Valparaiso (13)

Valparaiso's 1998 tournament run is best known for "The Shot," as Bryce Drew hit a game-winning 3-pointer as time expired to give the Crusaders a first-round win over 4-seed Ole Miss. Valpo defeated 12-seed Florida State in the next round before bowing out with a 74-68 loss to 8-seed Rhode Island.

1988 Richmond (13)

The Spiders upset the defending national champions and 4-seed Indiana in the first round with a 72-69 win, and got by Georgia Tech in the second round. Richmond's run would end in the Sweet 16 against 1-seed T ACC Gear shirt emple. It marked the first time in program history that a team reached the Sweet 16. The team would not go that far in the tournament again until 2011.
