The courtroom drama intensifies as The Trial gears up for its gripping second season, set to stream from September 19, 2025, on JioCinema. Kubbra Sait, who reprises her role from Season 1—promises a far more layered and emotionally charged performance.
Speaking at the trailer launch on Friday, Kubbra shared her excitement about revisiting a character in a series that’s getting a second life—something, she admitted, has rarely happened in her career so far.
“The first thing that attracted me to coming back to The Trial was that—this is the first Season 2 of my life,” she said with a laugh. “In all the shows I’ve done so far, either my character dies in Season 1 or the show never gets a second season!”
Having appeared in Season 1 alongside powerhouse performers like Kajol and Jisshu Sengupta, Kubbra reflected on the evolution of the series and how Season 2 offered her the opportunity to dig even deeper into her character. “It was a life-changing experience to work with incredible actors like Kajol and Jisshu in Season 1. But now, in Season 2, you get to elevate that performance—and take the character to a whole new level,” she explained.
Kubbra also praised director Umesh Bist, who joins the series this season and, according to her, brought a fresh emotional intensity to the set. “Umesh is such a warm, kind, grounded director. He was able to stir up more emotions in me than I thought I had for this character,” she said. “It really changed the way I approached her in Season 2.”
While details about her character remain tightly under wraps, Kubbra teased that the defining trait of her role this season is secrecy. “The first thing that stands out about this character is how secretive she is. There’s a lot going on beneath the surface—and that’s always exciting to play as an actor.”
With Kajol returning as lawyer Noyonika Sengupta, navigating new personal and professional battles, and Kubbra reprising her intriguing role, The Trial Season 2 promises a heightened blend of suspense, emotion, and courtroom tension. Streaming begins on September 19, 2025, on JioCinema—and this time, the secrets run deeper than ever.
