Brace yourself. Sky TV just dropped the official trailer for Atomic — a heart-pounding new action-thriller series inspired by the real-life nuclear underworld chronicled in William Langewiesche’s acclaimed book The Atomic Bazaar. Premiering August 28, 2025, the series promises espionage, chaos, and a road trip like no other.
Starring Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones), Shazad Latif (Star Trek: Discovery), Samira Wiley (The Handmaid’s Tale), Brian Gleeson, Franklin Virgüez, and Stuart Martin, Atomic throws viewers into the volatile, murky world of global nuclear trafficking.
The story kicks off when Max (Allen), a rebellious drug smuggler with a devil-may-care attitude, crosses paths with JJ (Latif), a mysterious man on the run. What begins as a fluke encounter turns into an international race against time as the duo is unwillingly roped into smuggling weapons-grade uranium across North Africa and the Middle East.
But they’re not just running from enemies — they’re being hunted. At the helm of that pursuit is Cassie Elliott (Wiley), a brilliant CIA scientist and covert NOC agent who believes Max and JJ are linked to extremist factions. What follows is a deadly, globe-trotting cat-and-mouse chase, with shifting alliances, blurred truths, and secrets buried deeper than uranium silos.
Created by Gregory Burke (’71), and co-written by Ishy Din, Jiwon Lee, and Clare McQuillan, Atomic is directed by Shariff Korver, known for his gritty realism. The series blends geopolitical tension with action-fueled storytelling, delivering a dark, twisted look at the black-market arms trade — and the very human stories caught in the crossfire.
Part thriller, part road trip, part redemption arc, Atomic is not just about the bomb — it's about what happens when people become the fuse.
Catch Atomic on Sky TV from August 28, 2025.
