HBO and DC just dropped the wild, violent, and gloriously unhinged red band trailer for Peacemaker Season 2, and it’s everything fans hoped for — and then some. Slated to premiere on August 21, 2025, this isn’t just a return. It’s a reload.
John Cena reprises his role as Christopher Smith, aka Peacemaker — the gun-loving, profanity-slinging anti-hero who's still obsessed with achieving peace… even if it means killing half the population to get it.
This time around, there’s a new team and a new mission, but the same twisted sense of justice. Season 2 sees Peacemaker confronting the wreckage of his past, wrestling with guilt, daddy issues (yes, Robert Patrick is back from the grave in some capacity), and navigating the blurred line between heroism and delusion. Oh, and he still makes time to beat the living daylights out of bad guys, all in the name of peace.
The cast is stacked: Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland, Freddie Stroma, Steve Agee, Frank Grillo, David Denman, Sol Rodriguez, Tim Meadows, and Nhut Le return or join the chaos. Expect new powers, bigger explosions, more inappropriate jokes, and of course… Eagly.
The series, a brainchild of James Gunn, retains its signature tone — part satire, part emotional gut-punch, all wrapped in gore, glam metal, and absurdity. Gunn writes and directs several episodes again this season, joined by Greg Mottola, Peter Sollett, and Althea Jones to keep the action unpredictable and the pacing sharp.
So buckle up. It’s loud. It’s ridiculous. It’s personal. Peace never looked so deranged. Peacemaker Season 2 premieres August 21 on HBO and Max.
