Netflix’s acclaimed crime drama Delhi Crime is gearing up for its third season, set to premiere on November 13. The trailer, released on Tuesday, has already stirred strong emotions among fans eager to see the return of Shefali Shah as the indomitable DIG Vartika Chaturvedi a character who has become synonymous with grit, empathy, and leadership.
At the trailer launch, Shefali Shah reflected on how deeply the role continues to move her. “I’m okay, I’m nervous, I’m anxious and very emotional,” she said, capturing the swirl of feelings that come with returning to a character so layered and loved. “Every case, every moment evokes a different response in a person. The same crime a year ago she would have reacted differently. She’s grown, she’s become DIG, but she’s been moved away from home, away from her team. And she’s itching to get back. She’s in a position where she can use her mind and get things done, but Vartika likes to get her hands dirty. She wants to dive straight in and do it.”
That statement perfectly captures the restless energy of Delhi Crime 3. Vartika Chaturvedi has evolved — she’s more senior, more self-aware, yet more constrained by bureaucracy. Her challenge this time isn’t just solving the case; it’s finding a way back to the ground where she truly belongs.
The upcoming season reportedly tackles a nationwide human-trafficking operation a case that will test not only Vartika’s investigative acumen but also her resilience as a leader torn between duty and instinct.
Shah also looked back on her journey with the show, recalling how natural her chemistry felt with Rajesh Tailang, who plays her trusted colleague Bhupinder Singh. “When we started season one, we met just a day before the shoot. We had no time for readings and had never worked together before. But once we began, it felt as if Bhupinder and Vartika had known each other forever. After the first two seasons, so many people told me they wished they had a relationship like Bhupinder and Vartika’s. I genuinely believe Madam Sir is only as good as her team and I’m very lucky. I have a terrific team, and we have a lot of fun.”
That bond, both on and off screen, has become one of the emotional anchors of Delhi Crime. It humanises the darkness of the cases, grounding the story in relationships built on mutual respect and shared purpose. With Delhi Crime 3, Shefali Shah once again steps into the uniform of a woman who leads with both heart and authority.
