Known for making audiences laugh with his unforgettable comic timing in Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain, actor Saanand Verma now has his eyes set on something entirely different—and much darker. In a candid media interaction, the actor expressed his burning desire to play a menacing villain opposite some of Indian cinema’s biggest names.
"My dream role is to play a main villain in a Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan or Allu Arjun movie," Verma shared. "A really dangerous villain, who also has comic elements—a character so intense that people are scared, cry, and start hating me. That’s what I really want to do." It’s an unexpected twist from the man best known for playing the hilariously eccentric Anokhelal Saxena, but Verma believes the villain's journey is far more layered and exciting.
"I prefer villainous roles because they are challenging. In Indian cinema, hero characters often have a flat graph, but villains—you can do a lot with them. Even if I play a protagonist, I’ll never keep it flat. I’ll add my own spice,” he said, hinting at his passion for characters that live on the edge.
Verma also opened up about his favorite roles so far. While Saxena from Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain is beloved by fans—and, as he admits, reflects his real-life quirky persona—it’s Satyanarayan Dubey from Apharan that he holds closest to his heart. “That character is totally different from me. Saxena is someone I am in real life—I’m a bit mad, and my director cast me knowing that,” he laughed. “But Satyanarayan Dubey? He’s nothing like me. I’m not indolent at all in real life!”
With his eyes set on the villain's throne and a clear hunger for complex roles, Saanand Verma might just be the next unpredictable antagonist Bollywood or Tollywood needs—equal parts dangerous and delightful.
