One of India's most beloved television shows, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, has reached a historic milestone,17 successful years of entertaining audiences across the world. The team marked the occasion with a heartfelt press conference where producer Asit Kumarr Modi shared his emotions, gratitude, and insights on the show's journey.
The press conference was filled with nostalgia, love, and pride as the cast and crew came together to celebrate their long-standing association. Speaking at the event, producer Asit Modi said: “I can’t put my feelings into words. I’ve received so much love from people… It’s hard to believe that 17 years have passed. When I sit down to think about it, I get overwhelmed—how did it all happen? But it happened, and it’s still going strong. It’s the result of everyone’s hard work, the entire team’s dedication.”
He emphasized that this longevity and success wouldn’t have been possible without teamwork: “Some things are only possible because of collective effort. So many people have worked tirelessly behind the scenes. Even today, after 17 years, I feel that our team still has the same energy—our artists, writers, directors all are still energetic because we receive the audience’s love at 8:30 PM every day, and that gives us energy. It feels amazing.”
Modi highlighted the importance of unity in achieving success: “Teamwork is the key. When you have a team, you succeed. No one can do it alone. The credit goes to the entire team. The artists are the face of the show, but there are many people working behind the curtain every single day.”
Addressing one of the most talked-about aspects of the show—the absence of the iconic character "Daya Ben," Modi was honest about the difficulty of replacing her: “In daily soaps, challenges come up every day. Not having Daya Ben has been a big challenge. The character, which Disha Vakani played so beautifully, is very hard to replace. If it’s in God’s will, I’ll bring a new Daya. It’s her personal life, so she cannot return, though we truly wish she would.”
He also touched upon the emotional connection the audience has with Disha Vakani’s portrayal: “I keep telling the viewers that we’ll bring Daya back. But finding a new Daya is difficult because Disha’s portrayal is etched in people’s minds. That’s a challenge, but I believe that with everyone’s love, we’ll overcome it too.”
The celebration wasn't just about looking back—it was also about the show's continuing commitment to bring laughter and positive messages into people’s lives.
