At the opening ceremony of the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, Prasar Bharati officially launched WAVES, its new OTT platform. The event was graced by Goa's Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, along with key dignitaries including Shri Sanjay Jaju, Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. WAVES aims to cater to the growing demand for digital streaming services while celebrating India’s rich cultural heritage. It features a blend of timeless classics such as Ramayan and Mahabharat alongside modern content, offering something for both young viewers and older generations.
The platform supports content in 12+ languages and covers over 10 genres, including infotainment, music, sports, and more. WAVES offers video-on-demand, live TV streaming, free-to-play games, and even live events like Mann Ki Baat by Prime Minister Modi. It also includes special programming such as the US Premier League Cricket Tournament and a Cyber Security awareness campaign in collaboration with CDAC and MeitY.
WAVES is also committed to supporting young creators, offering a platform for student graduation films and new content from popular creators like Kamiya Jani and RJ Raunac. The platform will showcase films such as Fauji 2.0, Jackson Halt, and Roll No.52, in line with IFFI’s focus on young filmmakers.
By blending India’s cultural legacy with modern digital trends, WAVES aims to transform the OTT space in India, offering a diverse, inclusive content library that caters to all ages and interests.
