The 12th Jagran Film Festival (JFF) has kicked off in New Delhi at the iconic Siri Fort Auditorium, marking the start of a month-long celebration of global cinema. Known as the world’s largest traveling film festival, JFF showcases 292 films from 111 countries in 34 languages, offering an eclectic mix of feature films, shorts, and documentaries. With a special focus on diversity, the festival highlights compelling stories from across the world, ensuring that “Good Cinema for Everyone” remains its central theme.
This year’s festival features a star-studded lineup of actors like Pankaj Kapoor, Manoj Bajpayee, and Taapsee Pannu, alongside renowned directors such as Sudhir Mishra and Onir. Noteworthy films include Kiran Rao’s Oscar entry Laapataa Ladies, Shashi Khandare’s Marathi film Gypsy, and documentaries like Ujjal Uttam: Artful Life of Uttam Bahurupi. The festival will also showcase 17 premieres, including five world premieres and seven Asia premieres, offering audiences a first look at groundbreaking works.
In addition to the screenings, JFF offers masterclasses, panel discussions, and talk shows with industry experts. Highlights include Pankaj Kapoor’s Retrospective session and a Masterclass on the "Grammar of Cinema" by Keval Arora and Mohit Tripathi. Another key session, led by casting director Mukesh Chhabra, will discuss the art of being cast in big films, providing valuable insights for aspiring actors and filmmakers.
The festival’s unique traveling format ensures that it reaches audiences in both major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Lucknow, as well as in smaller cities such as Raipur, Agra, and Meerut. By bringing quality cinema to these diverse regions, JFF continues its mission of democratizing access to global storytelling and fostering cultural inclusivity.
