On Saturday afternoon, a fire broke out in a part of Chitra Cinema located in the Dadar area of Mumbai. The blaze, which started in the canteen area, was quickly contained by the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB). According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), no injuries were reported from the incident.
The fire affected only the electric oven, food items, and some electrical installations and wiring. As a precaution, the theatre was evacuated, and the flames were extinguished within ten minutes of their eruption at approximately 3:15 PM.
Chitra Cinema has since issued a statement addressing the incident: “We wish to address the recent unfortunate incident that occurred at Chitra Cinema Hall in Dadar on Sunday afternoon. First and foremost, we are grateful to confirm that no injuries have been sustained, as verified by the BMC. The fire, which originated in the canteen area, was swiftly brought under control. The Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) responded promptly and effectively, evacuating the theatre as a precautionary measure.
