The trailer of Pitch To Get Rich launched yesterday, promising high fashion, fierce pitches, and big money. The upcoming reality series, premiering October 20 on JioCinema under the JioHotstar Specials banner, brings together 14 fashion entrepreneurs competing for a slice of a ₹40 crore investment pool. Produced by the Fashion Entrepreneur Fund (FEF) and Dharmatic Entertainment, the show aims to spotlight the next wave of fashion talent in India—turning vision into venture, and creativity into capital.
At the trailer launch event, Bollywood star Akshay Kumar—who also features on the show as an investor—shared his excitement and perspective. Far from just lending star power, Akshay embraced the concept deeply, highlighting the scale of the fashion industry and the business potential behind the glamour.
Addressing the audience, Akshay shared how fashion has always run in his bloodstream: “My family, extended family, my wife—all of them have deep interest in fashion.”
Then he shifted gears from emotion to numbers:“What struck me is the business of fashion. You all might not know, but India’s fashion industry is about ₹9 lakh crore annually. If we compare, the film industry’s yearly business is around ₹15,000 crore.Meaning: what Karan Johar does, Manish Malhotra does many times over.”
He further added, “Through FEF, I got a chance to be an investor. This is a platform where we take a fashion brand’s journey from start to future success. And the first step in that journey is Pitch To Get Rich—a first‑of‑its‑kind show.”
He then reflected on what drew him in: “I joined this show because I knew the figures and facts are very big. And why not? When this show came, Karan, Manish were there. These are big people. Their planning was grand. I liked the idea that all the new companies got an opportunity to come in. I have always supported people, whether they are from my industry or otherwise—I have worked with 23 new directors, 26 new heroines. So I like the fact that there were so many things I saw: very beautiful ideas, sustainable clothes, new innovations.”
As the show gets ready to stream on JioHotstar from October 20, it isn’t just about glitz. It’s about giving fashion entrepreneurs a real stage, mentorship, and capital. With a colossal ₹40 crore investment pool and backing from big names, Pitch To Get Rich could become the runway where design meets commerce, and dreams translate into startups.
