Utopia has unveiled the trailer for Pet Shop Days, an experimental and grainy film helmed by Olmo Schnabel. Executive produced and presented by some heavyweights in the industry — Martin Scorsese, Michel Franco, and Jeremy O. Harris — the film promises a compelling, gritty exploration of love, desperation, and the underworld of New York City.
Starring Jack Irv, Dario Yazbek Bernal, Willem Dafoe, Peter Sarsgaard, Emmanuelle Seigner, and more, Pet Shop Days follows Alejandro, an impulsive black sheep who flees his home in Mexico in an act of desperation, running from his unforgiving father. In New York, he meets Jack, a college-aged pet store employee dealing with similar parental struggles. As their whirlwind romance deepens, they are pulled into the seedy underworld of Manhattan, caught in a spiral of drugs and depravity.
When Alejandro’s past threatens to catch up with him, Jack is forced to make a life-altering choice between his family and a future on the run. The screenplay is co-written by Jack Irv, Galen Core, and Olmo Schnabel. Set to hit theaters on March 15th, 2025, Pet Shop Days is set to be a raw, emotionally intense exploration of identity, family, and escape.
