Samuel Goldwyn Films has dropped the official U.S. trailer for Tin Soldier, an intense action thriller directed by Brad Furman (The Lincoln Lawyer, Runner Runner). Featuring a star-studded cast led by Jamie Foxx, Robert De Niro, and Scott Eastwood, the film is set to hit select theaters in the U.S. on September 12, 2025.
The story follows The Bokushi (Foxx), a charismatic cult leader who runs a mysterious "rehabilitation" program for disillusioned U.S. combat veterans. Promising them purpose and power, he turns them into a loyal, elite private army—and builds an armed fortress to protect them. But when the government sees this rising force as a national threat, they enlist Nash Cavanaugh (Eastwood), a former disciple with a personal vendetta, to go undercover and take down the leader from within.
As seen in the trailer, Tin Soldier is packed with big-budget action—fiery explosions, military ops, and dark cultish rituals—set against a backdrop of emotional trauma and manipulation. Foxx plays The Bokushi with magnetic menace, while De Niro steps in as Emmanuel Ashburn, the no-nonsense government operative running the mission. Add in John Leguizamo, Joey Bicicchi, and Rita Ora, and you’ve got a genre stew that blends war, vengeance, and psychological warfare.
Despite the impressive ensemble and striking visuals, early reactions to the UK release have been mixed. Some viewers have called the plot "chaotic" and “all over the place,” with over-the-top action struggling to balance the darker emotional themes. Still, the trailer suggests a high-stakes ride with plenty of spectacle and star power.
Co-written by Jess Fuerst and Pablo Fenjves with director Furman, the film was produced by Steven Chasman, Brad Feinstein, and others. Whether Tin Soldier turns out to be a gripping thriller or a misfired action experiment remains to be seen—but it’s certainly got people talking.
