Actress Mahima Chaudhry is all set to make audiences laugh as she stars alongside the incomparable Sanjay Mishra in the upcoming comedy Durlabh Prasad Ki Dusri Shadi. At the trailer launch, Mahima opened up about what instantly drew her to the film and her answer was as honest as it was delightful.
Recalling her first reaction, Mahima said with a smile: “The moment I heard the title, I loved the film. I hadn’t even heard the story. Just the name Durlabh Prasad and the idea of his second marriage was enough. I asked, ‘Who is Durlabh Prasad?’ When they said it was Sanjay Mishra, I immediately said, ‘I’m doing this film.’ I agreed without even listening to the script.”
Speaking about the universal appeal of marriage-centric stories in India, Mahima explained why this theme connects so effortlessly with audiences: “In our country, weddings are a huge industry, a huge emotion, a huge activity. And all our money disappears around wedding time! People talk about weddings constantly. For 4–5 months of the year, every hall is booked only for weddings. Weddings are a very big deal here. And now Mishra ji is getting married again… People immediately understand what that means and what the chaos of a wedding is like.”
Mahima also shared how much she enjoys the genre and how exciting it was to work with Sanjay Mishra: “I love comedy, and working with such a brilliant actor was a thrill. Our entire team was wonderful. We shot the film in Benaras, and it was a beautiful experience.”
Talking fondly about shooting in the holy city, Mahima described its energy: “Benaras has a very special atmosphere. There’s a temple in every lane… everyone is absorbed in their own rhythm, yet the city functions so beautifully. Everything feels chaotic, but somehow everything works perfectly.”
With a quirky title, an endearing premise, and a powerhouse pairing of Mahima Chaudhry and Sanjay Mishra, Durlabh Prasad Ki Dusri Shadi promises heartfelt laughter blended with the warmth of small-town India. Durlabh Prasad Ki Dusri Shadi is scheduled to be released on 19 December, 2025.
