Vedhika Kumar who has made a significant impact in the South Indian film industry with her versatile performances and strong screen presence, shared her excitement and reflections on her recently released film Fear. The actress expressed confidence in the film’s potential.
“We've already won an award, but winning the audience's heart is still left to be done,” she said with a smile. She added that the positive feedback from the trailer left her feeling thrilled and optimistic. “I’m very happy and thrilled. I have no doubts; we’ve made a good film,” she said with confidence. For Vedhika, success isn't only about awards or box office numbers but about the effort and discipline she puts into her craft. “The definition of success for me is how much effort I’ve put into the film. Whether my acting is good or bad doesn’t matter; what’s important is if I’ve focused enough, if the discipline was right. For me, success is all about staying focused on each shot every day,” she explained.
Talking about the genre of Fear, Vedhika shared that the film is more than just a typical horror story. “There are many different types of fear. That’s what we address in the film. Fear isn’t just about ghosts. It’s a thriller, and it also has eerie and horror elements. The audience's imagination will run wild in all directions. It’s an intelligent thriller,” she said. She highlighted how thrillers are underrepresented in the Indian film industry. “Thrillers are less common in India compared to horror films, which are being made quite a lot and have been successful. But I believe there’s much more scope for thrillers, and that’s what makes this project even more exciting,” she added.
For Vedhika, horror and thrillers are her favorite genres, as they offer plenty of room for acting challenges. “My favorite genres are horror and thriller. There’s a lot of scope for performance. When you’re scared, it requires a lot of work, imagining things on a different level. Making the audience feel scared is tough. Creating the right ambience to frighten people is very difficult. That’s why I enjoy it more—it’s very challenging,” she explained. She also spoke about the intensive preparation her role demanded. “My role in this film is quite intense, and I had to do a lot of preparation, which I really enjoyed,” she said.
Directed by Dr. Haritha Gogineni, Fear is a gripping suspense thriller that promises to keep audiences on the edge of their seats with its chilling plot and intense thrills.
