Sonakshi Sinha has responded strongly to actor Mukesh Khanna's recent controversial remarks about her and her father, veteran politician Shatrughan Sinha. Khanna, who is best known for his role as Bhishma in the iconic Mahabharat, made unwarranted comments regarding Sonakshi's appearance on a quiz show, where she was asked a question related to the Ramayana that she failed to answer correctly. Khanna took it a step further by suggesting that the blame lay with her father for her lack of knowledge.
Taking to Instagram, Sonakshi made it clear that she was not going to let these remarks slide. In her post, she addressed Mukesh Khanna directly, saying, "Dear Sir, Mukesh Khanna ji… I recently read a statement you made saying that it's my father's fault I did not answer a question about the Ramayana correctly on a show I attended many, many years back." She further pointed out that Khanna chose to focus solely on her, despite another woman on the show also being unable to answer the same question.
Sonakshi defended her actions by acknowledging that, yes, she may have "blanked out" in that moment—a natural human tendency. However, she reminded Khanna of the values of forgiveness and forgetfulness taught by Lord Ram himself. "If Lord Ram can forgive Manthara, Kaikeyi, and even Ravana after the battle, surely you can let go of this extremely small thing," Sonakshi wrote. She emphasized that she did not need his forgiveness but asked him to stop repeatedly bringing up the incident for the sake of publicity at her expense.
In her conclusion, Sonakshi stated that the values instilled in her by her father, Shatrughan Sinha, were the reason she had responded with respect despite Khanna’s distasteful comments. "I wish you well," she added, making it clear that she would not tolerate baseless criticism of her upbringing or her family.
Sonakshi's response is a reminder that public figures, particularly those from well-respected families, deserve respect in both their personal and professional lives. It also sheds light on how public figures can handle criticism with grace and dignity while standing up for themselves and their loved ones.
