Satya Was a Jackpot for Us": Aditya Srivastava Reflects on the Legacy of the Film

Actor Aditya Srivastava, best known for his iconic role as Inspector Abhijeet in the long-running TV series CID, recently attended the 27th anniversary re-release event of the landmark film Satya. During the event, Srivastava shared his thoughts on how Satya shaped his career and the film industry, as well as the changing dynamics of CID in today’s entertainment landscape.
 
Reflecting on his experience working in Satya, Srivastava emphasized the rare and transformative nature of the film. "Films like Satya are rare… it was a jackpot for many people, and it was a jackpot for us too," he said. He explained that Satya was a defining moment in his career and also in the history of Indian cinema. It brought together a talented group of people, some of whom were already established in the industry, while others were struggling to find opportunities.
 
He further shared how the film helped many artists and technicians overcome their own "identity crisis," saying, "After this, the identity crisis ended." Satya gave a platform to numerous talented individuals, providing them with opportunities they might not have had otherwise. Srivastava added, "Satya was a platform, a film that opened doors of opportunity for many people."
 
Srivastava also addressed CID, the show that has become a part of millions of homes over the years. He mentioned that the show is undergoing a re-release with new efforts to refresh its presentation and storytelling to stay relevant to modern audiences. "There’s a re-release of CID happening… efforts are being made to do something new, especially in terms of presentation and storytelling," he said.
 
The actor acknowledged how much the entertainment industry has evolved, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. With audiences now consuming content across a range of OTT platforms, Srivastava noted that the expectations of viewers have significantly increased. "The audience has consumed a lot of content on OTT… they’ve become more 'upgraded,'" he remarked, highlighting the need for the show to evolve and meet the changing tastes of the audience.
 
Srivastava revealed that the team behind CID is working hard to make sure the re-release brings something fresh, while still retaining the charm that made it a beloved show. "Efforts are being made to serve something new, to present it in a new way," he said. "We’re trying to bring something new, as the audience’s tastes have changed."
