In an exclusive conversation about the upcoming re-release of his 2016 film Sanam Teri Kasam, producer Deepak Mukut shared his thoughts on the film's unexpected resurgence in popularity, driven by passionate fans. The film, which failed to gain widespread attention during its initial release, is set to return to cinemas on February 7, 2025, as a Valentine's Day special, after much persuasion from the movie's dedicated fanbase.
Deepak Mukut revealed his initial disappointment, saying, “I had hoped that people would come and watch the film when it was released in 2016. But at that time, the film didn’t receive as much love as we expected. Today, I’m so happy that after eight years, fans are showing so much love for the film. I’m really proud of it.” He went on to express his gratitude for the support, noting, “I’m proud of the films I’ve produced. And I’ll keep telling the fans that we will continue to make such movies. We’re planning sequels for Sanam Teri Kasam—Parts 2, 3, and 4—but your love is essential. Come to the cinemas, show your support, and love these films. A producer needs encouragement and courage, and that encouragement comes when the fans come to the theaters and show love for the movie.”
Mukut further elaborated on the overwhelming demand from fans across the country, saying, “People from different cities are coming and asking us to re-release the film. We had to listen to them. So, on February 7, we’re re-releasing the film as a Valentine’s Day gift. Whether it’s a ‘reciproduct’ or not, that’s something we’ll see.”
The producer also shared his thoughts on what motivates him to create such films. “A producer wants to make films from the heart, and Sanam Teri Kasam was one of my best films under my banner. It’s a project close to my heart.”
Looking ahead, Mukut hinted at the future of Sanam Teri Kasam with possible sequels, saying, “Harshvardhan is already a part of the second installment. However, Part 2 will only happen if the fans truly love the first film. If they show up at the theaters and support the re-release, then we will go ahead with Part 2. If they don’t, we’ll have to rethink whether we should even make such films.”
In conclusion, the producer emphasized that the future of Sanam Teri Kasam sequels lies entirely in the hands of the fans. He urged viewers to come out and support the film during its re-release on February 7.
