Saban Films has released the intense first trailer for Desert Dawn, a gritty crime thriller from stuntman-turned-director Marty Murray. The film stars Kellan Lutz and Cam Gigandet as lawmen caught in a spiraling web of violence, corruption, and cartel dealings in a small desert town. With its sun-bleached visuals, brooding atmosphere, and action-packed sequences, the trailer promises a tense, high-stakes ride through the American Southwest.
In Desert Dawn, Lutz plays Luke Easton, a newly appointed sheriff trying to find his footing in a quiet town that quickly proves anything but peaceful. Alongside his reluctant and jaded deputy (played by Cam Gigandet), Easton is drawn into a deadly conspiracy when a mysterious woman turns up murdered. As their investigation deepens, they discover ties to shady businessmen, local power brokers, and a ruthless cartel determined to silence anyone who gets too close to the truth.
The film boasts a strong ensemble cast that includes Niko Foster, Guillermo Ivan, Chad Michael Collins, Helena Haro, Texas Battle, Mike Ferguson, and Peter Nikkos. The screenplay, penned by Chad Law, Johnny Walters, and veteran action filmmaker Art Camacho, blends noir-inspired suspense with modern-day crime drama, grounded in a setting that’s as hostile as the enemies closing in on the lead characters.
Desert Dawn is slated for release on May 16, 2025, and marks another entry in Saban Films’ growing slate of hard-hitting thrillers. With its mix of action, moral complexity, and small-town secrets, the film looks set to appeal to fans of Sicario, Wind River, and No Country for Old Men. As the countdown to release begins, all eyes are on how Marty Murray delivers his first major feature behind the camera.
