Bollywood stars Richa Chadha, Kubbra Sait, Faisal Malik, and Jim Sarbh were among the celebrities who attended the special screening of Agra in Mumbai last night. The much-talked-about film, directed by Kanu Behl, has already made waves on the international festival circuit and is now gearing up for its theatrical release in India on November 14, 2025.
Agra is an intense erotic psychological drama that explores loneliness, repression, and the deep fractures within Indian patriarchy. Co-written and directed by Behl, the film stars debutant Mohit Agarwal in the lead role, alongside Priyanka Bose, Rahul Roy, Devas Dixit, Ruhani Sharma, Vibha Chibber, Sonal Jha, and Aanchal Goswami. The story follows Guru, a call center employee trapped in the confines of his parents’ home, whose growing frustrations drive him into a psychological breakdown—oscillating between obsession, delusion, and self-destruction.
The film had its world premiere at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival in the Directors’ Fortnight section, where it earned critical acclaim for its raw, unflinching portrayal of male desire and social decay. Described by critics as “a haunting dissection of patriarchy through the prism of male sexual misery,” Agra marks Kanu Behl’s return to form after his acclaimed debut Titli.
The Mumbai screening brought together an eclectic mix of actors, filmmakers, and cinephiles, many of whom praised the film’s bold narrative and fearless performances. With its upcoming theatrical release, Agra is expected to challenge conventional boundaries of storytelling in Indian cinema — offering a powerful, uncomfortable, and deeply human reflection on isolation and identity.
