RajKummar Rao, known for his critically acclaimed performances in films like Stree 2, addressed the topic of competition within the Bollywood industry, specifically touching upon his relationship with Akshay Kumar. Rao's comments have sparked interest and admiration for his humble perspective on the star-studded world of Indian cinema.
On the sidelines of Vicky Aur Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video trailer launch, when asked if he viewed himself as competing with Akshay Kumar, Rao made it clear that he holds Kumar in the highest regard. "I have learned a lot from Akshay sir," Rao said. "I grew up watching stars like him. He is our superstar, and you don't compete with your superstar, you love them. I am his fan."
Rao expressed his deep respect for not just Akshay Kumar but also other Bollywood legends, including Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Hrithik Roshan. “I’ve learned so much by watching people like Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, and Akshay sir. They’ll always be my superstars, and I’ll always look up to them,” he added.
Rao’s candid remarks reveal his enduring admiration for the icons of Indian cinema. He shared a personal anecdote to illustrate how deeply he still feels like a fan, even as a successful actor himself. “I’m so middle-class that even today, if I get a call from Akshay Kumar, I stand up in excitement and tell everyone, ‘Look, Akshay sir is calling!’ I can’t believe I’m working in the same industry as the people I’ve admired all my life. Competing with them is unimaginable.”
