Directed by TJ Gnanavel, Vettaiyan is an action drama that marks the Tamil film debut of legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan. The film's ensemble cast includes superstar Rajinikanth, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Jisshu Sengupta, Ritika Singh, and Dushara Vijayan, with Rohini, Abhirami, and VJ Rakshan in supporting roles.
The film also sees the reunion of Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth, who last collaborated 33 years ago on Hum (1991). Their earlier films together include Andhaa Kaanoon (1983) and Geraftaar (1985).
