Actor, voice artist, writer, and entrepreneur Rajesh Khattar is currently in a self-imposed break from acting, but it is far from a pause without purpose. Speaking candidly at the launch of Platinum Stellar’s design journey in Mumbai, he shared that he is waiting for the right kind of comeback role — something that can bring him a resurgence similar to veteran actor Rakesh Bedi, whose recent work in Dhurandhar has been widely appreciated.
“Well, currently, I’ve chosen to cut back a little on my workload so I can work on my own terms,” Rajesh said. “This is because—as I’ve been saying everywhere, and I’ll reiterate it once more—I have plenty of time for acting. I do want work. However, there is just one condition: I only want the kind of work that I desire—something distinct from the roles that are currently being offered to me.”
He made it clear that this is not about stepping away from the industry, but about waiting for the right opportunity. “That is why I’ve taken a bit of a hiatus for the time being, but I know the right opportunity will come along. It will happen—just look at Rakesh Bedi Sahab, for instance. So, it will happen; everyone will eventually get their chance,” he added. Rakesh Bedi made a comeback with Dhurandhar, after taking a break.
When asked about the kind of roles he is now seeking, Rajesh Khattar explained that he is looking for reinvention rather than repetition. “What I am getting at is this: having already portrayed the kinds of characters I have in the past, I now seek something different—something distinct from what I’ve done before. That is precisely the endeavor I am currently pursuing.”
He also emphasized that this break is a creative choice, not a limitation. “For this reason, I have taken a bit of a break; I have taken some time for myself and have cultivated a sense of patience. Let’s see how things unfold. In the meantime, my production company keeps running, so work continues unabated. Furthermore, my voice-over work—the voice acting assignments I undertake—is also ongoing. So, it’s not as if I am in a situation where I must take up an acting role out of sheer necessity.”
Alongside his reflections on acting, Rajesh was present with interior designer Sussanne Khan at the launch of the Platinum Stellar design journey, a luxury residential project developed by Platinum Corp. The project, led by founder and CEO Vishal Ratanghayra, focuses on an Art Deco-inspired “Presidential by Design” concept.
Rajesh also spoke warmly about his collaboration on the project, saying the creative alignment was natural. “Yeah. Well, we have worked together in the past as well… this project was a perfect match—because the core concept was Art Deco. And there really couldn't have been anyone better than Sussanne Khan to execute that vision. Our energies truly synergized, and here you are—you can see the results.”
He added confidently, “I also feel that this is going to be a landmark building right here in this area.”
For now, Rajesh Khattar seems focused on patience, purpose, and the belief that the right role will eventually find him — much like the resurgence he admires in others.
