Prithviraj Sukumaran has ignited fresh excitement among fans by revealing a brand-new poster for his upcoming Malayalam action drama Vilaayath Budha on X. Alongside the poster, he announced that the official trailer will release today at 6:30 PM, adding to the growing anticipation around the much-awaited film. In his caption, the actor confirmed that the movie will hit theatres on 21 November 2025, marking one of the year's most significant Malayalam releases.
The newly released poster exudes a gritty, rugged charm, featuring Prithviraj in intense, weathered attire standing beside an old jeep. The rustic backdrop, dusty roads, and brooding expression all hint at a raw action-drama tone—one that aligns with the actor’s recent streak of powerful, character-driven roles. Fans of his intense performances, such as in Aadujeevitham, will find the mood of the poster deeply familiar and promising.
Directed by debutant Jayan Nambiar, Vilaayath Budha is based on the acclaimed novel by G. R. Indugopan. The story centers on the complex relationship between Bhaskaran Master and his protégé Double Mohanan, a sandalwood smuggler. Their rivalry over a precious sandalwood tree—planted years earlier by the master—sparks a gripping narrative woven with themes of power, betrayal, and vengeance. Prithviraj stars as Double Mohanan, while Shammi Thilakan takes on the pivotal role of Bhaskaran Master, supported by Priyamvada Krishnan, Anu Mohan, Rajashree, and Teejay Arunasalam.
The journey of adapting the novel for the screen began in 2020 under the creative vision of director Sachy. Following his unfortunate passing, the project was entrusted to his associate Jayan Nambiar, who has carried forward Sachy’s vision with dedication. With music by Jakes Bejoy, cinematography by Arvind S. Kashyap, and editing by Sreejith Sarang, the film brings together a robust technical team.
