Fresh pairings are always a treat for the audience and Bollywood seems to have found its next unexpected yet exciting duo. In a collaboration no one saw coming, Pooja Bhatt and Jitendra Kumar are all set to headline an upcoming film rooted in India’s age-old pigeon-flying tradition, known locally as kabootar-baazi.

The project, announced by film trade analyst Taran Adarsh, brings together two powerhouse performers from entirely different cinematic worlds. Bhatt, a National Award-winning actor and filmmaker, will be seen playing Jitendra Kumar’s on-screen mother in what’s described as a “heartfelt story of legacy, love, and flight.”

While Jitendra Kumar has carved a niche for himself with relatable, grounded performances in hits like Panchayat, Jaadugar, and Kota Factory, Pooja Bhatt has been making a strong comeback with layered, mature roles most recently in Bombay Begums and Bigg Boss OTT 2. Their collaboration promises a refreshing generational dynamic: a mother-son bond set against the backdrop of a community where tradition meets transformation.

The story will explore how a young man’s passion for pigeon racing intertwines with his mother’s quiet resilience and unfulfilled dreams  blending nostalgia with a contemporary emotional core. The yet-to-be-titled film is written and directed by Bilal Hasan, a Filmfare nominee known for his acclaimed short film Chupchaap. It’s produced by Khyati Madaan under Not Out Entertainment, with Hitesh Kewalya writer of Shubh Mangal Saavdhan and director of Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan joining as co-producer.

This marks Hasan’s feature debut, and with such a talented ensemble behind it, the project is already being hailed as one to watch in 2026. Filming is expected to begin early next year. This project adds another feather to the cap of Not Out Entertainment, which has been steadily building a reputation for original and offbeat storytelling. Their upcoming lineup also includes the rom-hor-com Abhootpurva and a horror film inspired by a real-life national tragedy, both slated for production in 2026.With Pooja Bhatt’s emotional gravitas and Jitendra Kumar’s natural charm, this untitled drama could offer a deeply human, intergenerational story that transcends genres a tale of flight, freedom, and family. The audience may not have seen this pairing coming, but it’s exactly the kind of unexpected collaboration that keeps cinema alive and surprising.
