Netflix has just released the highly anticipated second trailer for The Electric State, a visually stunning and emotionally charged sci-fi film directed by The Russo Brothers. Based on the critically acclaimed novel by Simon Stålenhag, the film promises to be an unforgettable cinematic experience, blending dystopian themes with a poignant, personal journey. The screenplay, penned by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, brings this rich, complex world to life with a star-studded cast and a unique narrative that explores the intersection of humanity, technology, and the unknown.

The film stars Millie Bobby Brown as Michelle, an orphaned teenager living in a world where sentient robots once peacefully coexisted with humans but are now exiled following a failed uprising. These robots, once resembling cheerful cartoons and mascots, have become outcasts, living in hiding. Michelle’s life is turned upside down when she meets Cosmo, a sweet yet mysterious robot who seems to be controlled by her genius younger brother Christopher—the sibling she thought had died years ago. Determined to find Christopher and uncover the truth behind his disappearance, Michelle embarks on a journey across the American southwest, joined by Keats (played by Chris Pratt), a low-rent smuggler, and his sarcastic robot sidekick Herman (voiced by Anthony Mackie).

As they journey through the Exclusion Zone, a desolate and dangerous part of the desert where robots now exist in isolation, the trio encounters an eclectic and colorful group of animatronic allies. But as they venture deeper into the heart of the mystery, they discover that the forces behind Christopher’s disappearance are far more sinister and far-reaching than they ever imagined.

With an incredible ensemble cast that includes Ke Huy Quan, Jason Alexander, Giancarlo Esposito, Stanley Tucci, Woody Norman, Woody Harrelson, Brian Cox, Jenny Slate, and Alan Tudyk, The Electric State is shaping up to be one of the most exciting films of 2025. The movie blends action, heart, and thought-provoking sci-fi themes, offering a fresh take on the genre. Fans of Stranger Things, Guardians of the Galaxy, and visionary sci-fi storytelling are sure to be captivated by this ambitious project.

The Electric State is slated for release on March 14, 2025, exclusively on Netflix.
